Human Chain (Saturday July 25, 2009)

Join this unprecedented wave of global citizen activism for the people of Iran and participate in an event in one of more than 100 cities around the world.

Date: Saturday July 25th

Time: 12:00 PM Sharp

End of Event: 3:00 PM

Start location: Vancouver Art Gallery - [W. Georgia, between Hornby and Howe]

Description: We'll form a human chain from Hornby St. towards Denman st. along both sides of W. Georgia st.

After the human chain event we will be gathering at the Art Gallery again for a closing event.

::Speech

+ Dr. Peyman Vahabzadeh, Assistant Professor of Sociology (UVIC),
+ Ms. Mojdeh Shahriari, Lawyer and Former member of Immigration and Refuge Board,
+ Nazanin Afshin-Jam, Human Rights Activist and Former Miss Canada.

::Music performance:

+ Kaveh Yaghmaei, Iranian Rock Star, singer-songwriter, will participate and perform an old time revelutionary song of his Dad Kourosh Yaghmaei.

AND

+ Bif Naked, Canadian rock singer-songwriter, poet, cartoonist, and actress,will also participate and perform at the closing event.

We will also have a message of support for the people of Vancouver from the prominent figures in the Hunger Strike Campaigne in NYC.

We come together on July 25th so the citizens of the world can stand together for:

1) Civil and human rights for the people of Iran

2) Stopping the abuse of power—the imprisonment, torture and killing

3) Solidarity with the Iranian people. To our Iranian brothers and sisters: We have heard your voices, and you are not alone.
